It was observed in the organizations in the Cyprus market, the need for education of Managerial Executives, Tax Advisors and Business Consultants in managerial positions in the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge on tax issues regarding international corporate clients. This course gives candidates an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of international taxation, providing a robust base for the more specific areas of tax which are available for study in the various option modules.

ΣΚΟΠΟΣ ΣΕΜΙΝΑΡΙΟΥ
The goals of the seminar are to provide theoretical and practical knowledge to tax advisors and business consultants with management positions in order to serve their client’s needs in excellence. In addition the attendees will increase their tax knowledge in an international perspective in order to enhance their ability to serve their clients and increase their business profits. Upon completion of the the seminar the attendees will get a better knowledge and learn:
Knowledge objectives:
- To get an advanced integrated background International Tax and how this applies in all companies
- To describe the concepts and principles of International taxation (in particular the OECD Model tax treaty, the analysis of cross-border business transactions)
- To describe the permanent establishment concept: determining the existence of a permanent establishment applied in International tax.
Skills objectives:
- To identify and evaluate the methods of relief from International Double Taxation
- To assist in the development of the results in order to examine better and implement good practices for the approaches to the misuse of DTCs and abuse of law doctrines and DTCs
- To evaluate international tax issues arising from a change of residence/citizenship.
Attitudinal objectives:
- To perceive how the in-depth knowledge of international tax issues for managers is based from their primary jurisdiction
- To perceive how the awareness of tax issues, particularly in relation to international tax, in at least one secondary jurisdiction is applied in different tax models
- To be mobilized by actively and positively supporting methods in International tax to ensure that their tax advice will be more professional and adequate and increase the status of professionalism of their company.

Lisa Jane Harper, Barrister (non practicising) CTA, ADIT
Lisa-Jane Harper specialises in Corporate and International Tax. A St Andrew's graduate, she took an MA in Law at City University and went into private practice before training in tax at KPMG's Tax Business School, where she passed the ATT and CTA exams. Once qualified Lisa-Jane worked as a tax lawyer in the City, undertaking predominantly cross-border transaction work and banking. Lisa-Jane moved to EY in 2004 and in 2007 whilst on secondment to the tax training team, she decided to take on a new challenge and passed the Advanced Diploma in International Tax. The diploma complemented her work well, with her being based offshore in the Channel Islands. Lisa-Jane moved back to the UK in December 2009 and joined Tolley in 2010 to teach CTA and ADIT.
Christos Theofilou, Partner Taxatelier, BSc(Econ), FCA, ADIT, MSc Tax (Oxon)
Christos A. Theophilou, Partner Taxatelier, BSc (Econ.), FCA, ADIT, MSc Tax (Oxon) Christos A. Theophilou holds the MSc in Taxation from the Oxford University Faculty of Law. He qualified with KPMG and currently is Tax Partner at Taxatelier. Christos is specialised in corporate tax issues with an international dimension, such as private equity structuring, cross-border investments, structured finance and international trade. Given his love of tax and lecturing, he has also been at the forefront of developments in the Cyprus tax market by launching the first International Tax Academy in Cyprus by providing ADIT courses since 2010 in Partnership with Tolley's and PS Institute. He is also responsible for designing ADIT courses and being involved in examination training. Christos is a well-known personality in the tax world, where he is a regular speaker at a wide range of conferences. Christos is also a freelance lecturer for Tolley's in Greece, Cyprus and Ukraine, where his main areas are ADIT Paper 1 Principles of International Tax. He has a reputation for giving clear, enthusiastic lectures and always having time to help candidates - whether in choosing which ADIT options to study or helping with technical queries.
