The development of the oil & gas sector in Cyprus continues. The recent discoveries of hydrocarbons within Cyprus EEZ and the massive discovery of the Zohr gas field in the Egyptian waters, which is very close to the Cypriot acreages, has attracted a lot of attention internationally and has created locally a lot of optimism about the future. Despite the high calibre of educated graduates interested in this field, first-hand knowledge of the industry and how projects are developed is currently lacking. This short-course aims to introduce attendees to the dynamics and processes of the international oil and gas business. Understand how oil and gas projects are developed.

Dem Demetriou

Dem Demetriou has 30 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry gained with consulting companies, main contractors and major international oil and gas operating companies around the world. Dem graduated from Imperial College in London with a Master’s Degree in Materials Engineering and he also has an MBA in General Management from the University of Liverpool.

The majority of his career has been involved with pipeline and subsea engineering, with a particular focus on deep water and LNG related development projects, particularly in Trinidad, Egypt, West Africa and the Black Sea. He has served as Engineering Manager, Technical Authority and Project Manager on several projects worldwide.

Since August 2010, Dem has been providing consultancy services through his company, Atherion Management Services Limited. He specialises in conceptual and front-end engineering, project management services and training to the international oil and gas industry.
