Business analyst roles exist in almost every Business Sector, ranging from not-for-profit organisations, to retail and financial services. Based on the IDC Europe report, more than 20% of the ICT companies in Cyprus in 2021 stated that they have needs in the Business Analysis and big data sector, whilst 17,2% were planning to invest in vacancies for Business Analysts.

Cyprus has been transformed into a hub for software development, digital marketing, ICT services and service integration companies, adding to the need for young professionals in the Business Analyst role. 

Course Description:

The course will take place on a face-to-face mode, over 5 Saturday mornings during September and October at the European University Cyprus. 

The participants will learn through real-life examples the basic skills needed to perform the duties of a Business Analyst, one of the most popular positions, with high demand, in Cyprus and abroad. During the course implementation we will bring you in contact with companies that currently have open positions in Junior Business Analyst roles and you will be able to discuss with them the possibility of working for them. 

As part of the course, participants will be introduced to the terminology used in the business analyst role and will learn about practical ways in handling communication between the internal teams and also with the clients. 

The main parts of knowledge to be delivered relate to business analysis and technical requirements gathering, where the participants will learn the skill of: a) understanding gaps in the client’s processes and how these can be automated, b) writing proper technical specifications, in order to be understandable by both the internal technical team and the client. This will be an introductory course and no previous relevant knowledge or ICT/technology background is needed. People from any academic background can apply.

• Requirements Gathering Techniques (Questionnaires / Interviews / Surveys) 
• Analysis Techniques (Scope Setting / Organise priorities / Analysis of Information)

• Documentation / Recap (User Stories / Acceptance Criteria)

Participation will be fully funded by the European project “European Year of Youth in Cyprus 2022”, thus there is no cost involved. Limited seats are available, therefore you need to apply early to reserve your seat.

ΣΚΟΠΟΣ ΣΕΜΙΝΑΡΙΟΥ

A number of companies in Cyprus and abroad are looking to hire Junior Business Analysts, something that makes it an attractive career path for ambitious professionals willing to commit to learning the skills the job requires. As a Business Analyst, one is always at an advantage to move up the career ladder to a leadership role since a BA is already working on strategic initiatives aligned to the business goals.

This hands-on and practical course will provide to 20 young people, completely free of charge, the necessary skills and know-how on what it takes to be a Junior Business Analyst. The course aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and to help them become more employable, through a practical, current and industry-oriented intensive training course. No previous experience in programming/ coding or ICT skills is necessary and you can have an academic background in any field.

The course is organised by the Office of the Commissioner for the Citizen and the European University Cyprus.

Co-founder & CEO Cocoon Creations Michalis is an entrepreneur with studies in Economics and Computer Science, having more than 12 years in the technology services sector, specialising in multiple fields and especially in Relationship Management, Project Management and Business Analysis. Michalis is the CEO of Cocoon Creations, an agency specialising in the design, development and consulting of custom software solutions. He is also the Co-founder and CEO of Crew, an SaaS HRM platform that enables businesses to manage their employees in the most efficient way possible.

 GIORGOS IOSIF 

Business Analyst Software Techlink Ltd Giorgos Iosif is a Business Analyst at Techlink with 5 years of professional experience in the field of Software Engineering. Giorgos has broad-based experience in software engineering, software support, analysis and requirements and he is recognised for his strong analytical skills and conceptualising of solutions. He holds a degree in Business Computing.
