The IFRSs seminar has been specifically developed to be helpful to preparers and users of financial statements. The seminar intends to cover in-depth the principles of one very important IFRS, the Financial Instruments (IFRS 9).

Financial instruments is one of the most challenging areas in financial reporting. IFRS 9 Financial Instruments is effective from 1 January 2018 and replaces IAS 39 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement.

This recently issued standard introduces more principles-based approach to classify and measure financial assets. The new impairment model requires earlier and ongoing assessment of credit losses. Entities will have to determine and account for expected credit losses instead of waiting for an actual default.

Trainer: Stelios Ashiotis

He is a versatile trainer who has conducted professional training seminars on IFRS, and a variety of business topics to corporate audiences in many countries including Poland, Hungary, Greece, Cyprus, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Egypt, Abu Dhabi etc. Yiannos’ educational qualifications include a BSc in Business Administration, an MBA in International Finance from St. John’s University in New York, and various professional certifications.

He is a Certified Public Accountant (AICPA), a Certified Anti-money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS), and a Certified Financial Services Auditor (AIA). During his career Yiannos has held various managerial and executive positions in a number of multinational companies in Europe and the Middle East in a variety of industries. He is currently the Managing Director of Grant Thornton Funds Services (Cyprus), and leading the firms Regulatory Compliance services.
