International Financial Reporting Standards are the principles/standards used globally by accountants and auditors to prepare and audit the financial statements of both private and public companies. In the context of Continuous Professional Development, accountants and auditors are required to have deep knowledge and understanding of these standards in order to respond to the current professional environment and demands. Both IFRS 9 and IFRS 13 affect the majority of companies’ financial statements.

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of the main principles and technical issues needed for the purposes of the appropriate application of both IFRSs.

INSTRUCTOR: CHRISTOS PATZINAKOS BSC, ACA

Christos is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Warwick. He was employed for 10 years in the Auditing – Assurance Services Department in one of the Big Four accounting firms of Cyprus, where he held the position of the Senior Manager. His duties included the handling of a broad portfolio of clients in the banking, investment management and financial services sector. Christos was also involved in advisory and consulting projects in the banking industry. He was an active member of the Learning and Education team of the firm, participating as an instructor for internal training programs focusing on audit methodology and the development of soft skills. Between May 2015 and May 2019, Christos held the position of CFO for the biggest card acquirer and processor of Cyprus, while also acting as the Company Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Christos is an experienced and highly qualified tutor delivering with great success the ICAEW - Business Planning Banking and Financial Management papers as well as the ACCA -Financial Reporting and Advanced Audit & Assurance papers.
