ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ
Greenwashing is the process of conveying false or misleading information about a company’s real environmental impact, in an effort to conceal the true damage it causes to the environment. It involves making an unsubstantiated claim to deceive consumers into believing that a company’s products or services are environmentally friendly.
Greenwashing may occur when a company attempts to emphasise sustainable aspects of a product to overshadow the company’s involvement in environmentally damaging practices. It is the main reason stricter regulations were imposed globally to wipe out this phenomenon which has placed a shadow over genuine attempts to transition to a green and fair economy and revert the catastrophic effects of the climate crisis.
On the other hand, sustainability marketing/communication, when done right, can boost a brand’s reputation and provide an edge over competitors. During this short course, we will attempt to unlock this phenomenon through a number of case studies, review efforts to eliminate it and effectively jump-start sustainability marketing/communication efforts.
