ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ
This hands-on course covers contemporary commercial drafting of contracts, an essential skill for transactional practice that is also useful for lawyers, HR professionals and business consultants. Topics include translating a client’s business deal into contract language; the organizational paradigm for a formal contract; drafting definitions, covenants, representations, and warranties; deconstructing and marking contracts; transactional research; and proper use of boilerplate provisions.
Most contract drafters learn the basic principles of contract law at university, however, due to inexperience, they are unaware of the practical side of drafting a contract based on those legal principles. Contract drafters need to improve and perfect their skills in drafting legal documents and contracts in English to better protect their clients and work effectively. This need was highlighted after market research and discussion with employers (where contract drafting is a necessary skill for their employees) who believe there is a lack of practical experience and knowledge of contract drafting. Also, as a training centre, we accept requests from prospective trainees, who request practical seminars on this topic.
According to the law, the drawing up of contracts is not limited exclusively to the field of work of lawyers. Therefore, the program is addressed not only to lawyers but also to employees of private offices who already have academic knowledge of drafting legal documents and contracts in the workplace (e.g. notaries, HR professionals, business consultants, and corporate administrators).
The course teaches the essential skills of drafting clear documents and contracts, explaining essential legal vocabulary and phrases, including Latin and Old Norman French. This program will give the trainees a significant advantage when drafting legal documents and contracts as well as learning standard English contract drafting can also advance the trainee's career.
This is an online seminar, funded by the HRDA and offers 14 CPD points by the Cyprus Bar Association.
